Have you ever thought about a person who has limited either mobility, vison or hearing and how they answer the door and keep themselves safe. There is a lot of products that we now see marketed as “convenientwere ” or smart but they originally where designed for people with physical disablites. Such as, blinking door alarms, such as speaking door alarms, and mobile security cameras.
We see that they are a good thing and are ideal for busy parents or care givers as well and we see that as easter is coming up this would be a great idea for people and we also see that it can be an idea for people on the NDIS setting up a home so for them it could be an option to have it as assistive technology. As assistive technology falls into several categories, such as low-cost tech this is the tech that you don’t need a quote for and that you don’t need to justify to a health professional. Such as can openers, easy door handles, and at times shower chairs and commodes. These can be purchased online and you can just simply submit a claim and the money gets reimbursed that way. These are a link for the doorbells and we see that they are quite reasonable price I will be highlighting much more assistive technology that is useful and that you can purchase online. ( and I do get a commission if you purchase through this link)

We also do see that people at times do have to get a quote and then it gets purchased this is generally for things that would help to live a much more meaningful life such as walkers, wheelchairs, and lift chairs such as recliners chairs.
Some of these items are considered “luxury items” but some are considered to be “reasonable and necessary so this means that they are considered to be something that a person can’t live without or if they had to live without them they would be disadvantaged in some way so this could be that they would need much more support to live life and might need much more help in a way. So we see that they are able to be used and the person doesn’t need physical help to do the things that are needed.
https://youtu.be/FmfGID9X-kc This clip explains what reasonable and necessary does mean in the terms of NDIS and it is meant to be a guide to it but you can get much more detailed information from your LAC, Support coordinator or Plan manager.
We also see that often people think that they need to be purchased from a physical store but this isn’t the case is a store is NDIS approved and it is online if it is assistive technology that is low cost and low risk, we see that it can be purchased online, and often this is at a lower cost without compromising quality that we often see in online fashion. I see that we also have many things that where designed for people with disablities that are now very mainstream that I will highlight and we need much more infomation on how they are able to be done.
